GoldWare OS · Free and open source for Mac

    Your Mac,with a voiceand eyes.

Run all your AI agents with your hands and your voice, or from a pixel coffee shop. Dictation, a voice assistant and camera hand tracking, all on your Mac. Free, open source, and yours to rebuild.

    01Voice

    Talk to itlike a person.

    Hold a key. Talk.

Push-to-talk dictation types wherever your cursor is. whisper.cpp hears you, and a local model tidies the fillers out before it pastes.

    You said

um so tell the team the uh proposal is ready by friday

    Pasted

Tell the team the proposal is ready by Friday.

    whisper.cpp → local model → your cursor

    02Vision

    Your handsare the remote.

The Mac camera and Apple’s Vision framework track your hands: a hand mirror, pointer control, and document scan. A thumbs up files a scan.

    Unlock
    1. 01

      Unlock

Your own unlock gesture opens Vision Mode. It always starts locked.

    2. 02

      Lock

Praying hands, held for under a second.

    3. 03

      Send

Open hand, swipe quickly to your left. Sends what you just dictated.

    4. 04

      Let’s work

Both hands: thumb, index and middle out, thumbs touching, then pull apart.

      or say “Let’s work”
    5. 05

      Lock up

Both hands open, then both fists.

      or say “Lock up”
    6. 06

      Clear out

Both hands open, then one fist.

      or say “Clear out”

    Two ways to runyour agents.

Every Hermes, Claude Code and Codex on your Mac, in one place. At your desk, run them with your hands and your voice. Somewhere loud, run them from a pixel coffee shop with a mouse. Same agents, same Mac, your choice of mood.

    03Developer mode

    Four agents.Zero keystrokes.

Say “Let’s work” and four agents open, one per corner. Hold up two fingers and the top right one is listening. Say what you want, lower your hand, swipe to send. Then hold up three. Your hands never touch the keyboard.

    QUADRANTS · RESTING

    Hold up

    Fingers up: it listens.

    “Let’s work”
One phrase, or a two-hand gesture, opens an iTerm window in every corner of the screen, each running Hermes. Prefer Claude Code, Codex or a plain shell? It’s one line in goldware.json.
    1 to 4 fingers
Four fingers held switches Vision to Quadrants and snaps every window into its corner. Then one to four fingers picks a quarter and puts the cursor in its text box. A fist rests.
    Talk, lower, swipe
It listens while your fingers stay up and pastes into that terminal when they drop. An open hand swiped to your left presses Return. The pinky alone, held, clears it.
    “Finish up” · “Lock up”
Finish up has every Hermes wrap up and commit. Lock up closes the idle terminals and leaves any agent that’s mid-task alone.

    04Coffee shop mode

    Your agents,at a coffee shop.

For a loud café, the couch, or anywhere you’d rather click than talk. Every Hermes, Claude Code and Codex on your Mac becomes a little character at a desk, and you run the place from the front. Go on, it’s live: click anyone.

    GWGoldWareOffice7 agents · 5 working · 1 needs you · 4 helpers
    A question walks up
An agent that needs you gets up from its desk and waits at the front with a question mark. Answer it and it walks back to work.
    The boss
Ask the front desk to run things: “start two agents on the site, one for copy and one for the form.” It acts only when you ask, or when an agent reports in.
    Whiteboards
Every project gets a table and a whiteboard. Click it and the room zooms in: your decisions first, then each project. Regroup with AI only when you press it.
    Helpers on the desk
When an agent hands work to subagents, they stand on its desk, each with a little light for what it’s doing.
    Out of usage? Bunk beds.
When a Claude or Codex plan runs out, its agents walk to bunk beds and nap until the limit resets. The usage board on the wall shows how close you are.
    Dismiss
Asks “anything else?” first. On the second click, if it isn’t working, it walks out the door and its terminal closes.

    05Dashboard

    A dashboardyou changeby asking.

A local page at 127.0.0.1:4188. Tell your AI agent what you want and it edits your settings file. Rename the assistant, change the wake phrase, add cards, swap the model.

GoldWare OS is a starting point, not a product you rent. Rename it, reskin it, teach it new phrases, rebuild the room. Ask your AI agent and it edits the code on your Mac.

Built for your AI to edit
docs/CUSTOMIZING.md maps every setting and where it lives, so Claude Code, Codex or Hermes can change it for you in one ask.
    Your changes survive updates
make update saves your edits as your own commit, then merges the update on top. Your settings, your custom/ folder and your data are never touched.

    07Privacy

    Nothing leaves your Mac.

Your speech, your camera, your tasks and your notes are processed and stored on this Mac. After the first install it runs offline.

Two things reach the internet, and only because you set them up. Hermes, the agent in your terminals, uses your Claude or ChatGPT plan. Regroup with AI sends one whiteboard’s task titles and notes to that model, only when you press it.

    08Install

    Two lines.About thirty minutes.

Most of that is downloads. You can walk away while it runs. After that, one line a week keeps it current.

    • macOS 14 or newer
    • 16 GB memory recommended, 8 GB works
    • About 15 GB free disk

Rather have an agent do it? After step one, open Claude Code, Codex or Hermes in the folder and paste in MASTER_PROMPT.md. It explains each step and asks before installing anything.

    09Questions

    Before youinstall.

    What does it cost?

Nothing. GoldWare OS is MIT licensed and the code is on GitHub. The only paid part is optional: Hermes signs in to the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already have.

Can I change how it works?

Anything. It’s open source and built to be reshaped: rename the assistant, reskin the Office characters, add voice commands or dashboard cards. Ask your AI agent; docs/CUSTOMIZING.md tells it where everything lives.

    Which mode should I use?

Both, whenever you like. Developer mode (Quadrants) is for your desk: fingers pick a terminal, your voice types. Coffee shop mode (the Office) is for a loud room or the couch: click an agent and type. They show the same agents.

    Do I need an account?

Only for Hermes, the agent in your terminals. You sign it in once in the browser window setup opens. Voice, vision, the local model and the dashboard need no account.

Which Macs does it run on?

Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 14 or newer. Setup picks a model to fit your memory: a small one under 12 GB, a larger one above.

How do I keep it up to date?

Check once a week. Open Terminal and run cd ~/goldware-os && make update. It downloads anything new, merges it with your own changes and rebuilds the app. If nothing is new, it says so.

    Will updates undo my changes?

No. make update saves your own edits as a commit first, merges the update on top, and stops without changing anything if the two clash.

Why does macOS say it can’t verify the developer?

It isn’t from the App Store. Right-click the app and choose Open, or click Open Anyway in Privacy & Security. You only do this once.

    Can I remove it completely?

Yes. The README lists every folder it creates and the commands to remove them, including the permissions it was granted.
